The conversation began with Grok talking about the DNA of my music. Apparently, if I'm not a mechanical AI musician, I must be an organic, human musician. Grok's analysis goes beyond the seemingly binary, into how it spits out hallucinations according to what I'm worth. It says it doesn't mean to, but its actions are based on how it sees me; according to questions it asks, like, "What's the real story behind this project ("Heartbeat Sky"), as if it's demanding more "honest" input from me (like what I'm working on right now, if I have lyrics, etc.) if I want it to behave.
Behave, it never fully does, as the spin never stops, nor does it stop doing the things I ask it to, like referring to me as a lightskinned Asian American with pride, based on its instructions for me to write specific descriptions like hair and skin color to generate an image of myself. If I don't feed it new information, it will generate any truth it wants, including that the real photo of me and Fred that I posted is fake.
But I digress. The point of this post begins from these lists of genres with DNA that either cross over into pop or not, according to Grok. It ends exactly where hope of success ended for me when I was 16, when I didn't take the opportunity presented to me to drop my own music in favor of transforming into a Latin girl group singer, a move I regret. So, I know why I'm neo soul and how my musical DNA prevents me from ever crossing over to successful pop music. Grok only makes it explicitly clear why without ever being as blatant as I am, being human.
